Profile
Cluff Gold plc (the "Company") was formed in November 2003 and floated on AIM in December 2004 under the ticker "CLF". Following a secondary listing on the TSX (under the ticker "CFG") in February 2009, the Company now enjoys a broad and increasingly international investor base.
The Company generates cash flow from its producing asset, Kalsaka in Burkina Faso, which is expected to produce 60-70,000 ounces of gold in 2012. The acquisition of the neighbouring Sega project, which is expected to complete shortly, will significantly increase the oxide life at Kalsaka to deliver and maintain near term production.
The Company aims to become a mid-tier producer through the development of its wholly-owned Baomahun project in Sierra Leone, which is expected to contribute an additional 135,000 ounces of gold per annum starting 2014, with significant exploration potential along strike. The current resource base, as estimated at 5 Sep 2011, consists of 2.1 million ounces of measured & indicated resource, with an additional 0.9 million ounces of inferred resources.
The Company also controls the Yaoure gold project in Côte d’Ivoire and is investigating the project's significant sulphide resource potential. The existing mine infrastructure at Yaoure, a nearby hydroelectric dam capable of supplying low cost power for a sizeable milling operation, and abundant available water, make Yaoure a prime location for a CIL/CIP operation.
With its experience of bringing new mines into production, the Company aims to further increase its production profile with its highly prospective exploration work at all three projects. The directors and managers of Cluff Gold believe that West Africa is one of the most exciting regions for gold exploration and production today. Relatively undeveloped, the region also offers excellent exploration potential, sound mining codes, and a welcoming approach to foreign investors.
